If you are on the lookout for a value-for-money buffet deal, ‘Flavours on Two’ in Towers Rotana (Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai) is the perfect bet.
For AED 199 per person, the restaurant offers a three-course buffet inclusive of alcohol. To top it off, ‘Flavours on Two’ does theme nights with the menu taking an international makeover on a daily basis (check out the themes on this link).
Saturday night is Flavours on Two’s Asian Twist night, and being huge fans of South East Asian cuisines, we decided to give it a try last weekend.
The restaurant itself is beautifully designed with the simplistic minimalism of modern interior design. The furnishing is all teak wood, and the amber lighting gives the space a cozy, comforting ambiance.

Why is the restaurant called ‘Flavours on Two’ you ask? I had the same question in mind, and this was answered as soon as we asked the hotel concierge for directions. The restaurant is located on the second floor – hence Flavours on Two!
We started off our meal with chilled glasses of red wine. The buffet has a delicious spread of cheese, crackers and dried fruit; the perfect accompaniment for wine.
Flavours on Two’s Asian Twist buffet consists of a sushi counter, a range of mains, and a live cooking station serving tempuras and steaming hot Tom Yum soup… and ofcourse they have desserts!
I am a huge sushi fan, and was mighty impressed with Flavours on Two’s sushi and sashimi selection. Given the price of the buffet, the restaurant is not pulling strings on variety.
I love the bowl that was used to serve the Tom Yum soup. It looks so authentic! I want one of these to vamp up my bowls of soup at home.
Here are some of our favorite dishes from the mains section:

A small buffet counter is dedicated to Arabian dishes should anyone prefer ‘home-style’ cuisine,

The desserts section has a wide selection of puddings, cheese cakes as well as rich, nutty Indian mithai.
The Pecan Pie (bottom left in the photo above) is absolutely divine! It has a buttery, crumbly base and the filling is a smooth semi-sweet caramel that melts in the mouth.
Interestingly, there was only one dessert on the menu that can justify being ‘Asian’. This was the battered Banana Fritters served with warm custard. This is a sinfully rich treat, and is a must if you are a fan of bananas.
After all this (over) eating, a nice hot cup of tea is a life saver. At Flavours on Two, a choice of teas and coffee is included in the AED 199 buffet.
With a sober, relaxed ambiance and a full-course meal including house beverages for just AED 199 per person, Flavours on Two is the perfect option for a peckish night out, or for when you want to entertain a crowd. Choose from the restaurant’s different theme nights. I’m planning on a revisit to try out their Italian. The Italian theme nights fall on Thursdays and Fridays and the staff tell us this is the most popular theme.
Flavours on Two is located on the second floor of Towers Rotana. For more information and table bookings, please visit their website on this link.
