Today is Day 2 of the ‘3 Quotes in 3 Days’ challenge I was nominated for by Small Town Blogger. Hope you had a chance to see my quote from Day 1?
Here’s my Quote#2:
Taken from one of Atwood’s most poignant reads on a scarred childhood set in the Canada of the mid-sixties, Cat’s Eye explores the life of an adult Elaine, and how her childhood relationship with a trio of girls shaped her into the person she grew up to be.
I first read Cat’s Eye in high-school, and rereading it as the mother of a 4 year-old daughter, the novel has been far more thought-provoking than the first time round.
As a mother, I am inundated with banter on schoolyard friendships and rivalry. My adult ears often dismiss these as ‘cute’ childlike incidences, but Atwood’s novel is a gentle reminder on the far-reaching consequences.
As parents, we need to listen to our children, and make them feel important. It is also our duty to ensure they turn out to be kind, considerate little people who refuse to bully or be bullied. Being a parent, after all, is one of the most challenging (yet rewarding!) jobs on the planet.
Rules:
- Post 3 of your favorite quotes each per day for 3 recurrent days. The quotes can be of any other people or it may come straight from your own heart.
- Nominate 3 bloggers with each post to challenge them.
- Don’t forget to utter a thankful word to the person who nominated you.
